Stevenage Forced Elding To Join Kettering

Stevenage refused to sell Anthony Elding to any League or Conference National side, according to Lincoln manager Keith Alexander.

Alexander, who was a long time admirer of Elding's talent, enqiured about a fee but told the Lincolnshire Echo:

"I wanted to bring Anthony in and so did a few other teams in League Two, but Stevenage didn't want to sell him to a team in the Conference or the Football League. Whether it was to do with the player's problems there, I don't know. But it ended our move straight away."

Elding had a long running feud with manager Graham Westley, but the ambitious 23 year old was accused of taking the money when he made a surprise move to Kettering, mid table in the Conference North division. Now it appears he had the choice of sitting at home or taking the Kettering option.

Meanwhile, Kettering are sizing up a cash bid for Dagenham striker Chris Moore after fellow managers Kevin Wilson and John Still had a discussion about the player.
