Big Game for us says Turner

Graham Turner says that the visit of Stevenage Borough to Edgar Street tomorrow evening is a big game.

"Stevenage are very experienced, quite physical at times," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Hereford United will be without six of the older experienced members their squad. Tony James, Jamie Pitman, Guy Ipoua, Adam Stansfield, Alex Jeannin and Stacy Coldicott all miss the game, and Danny Carey-Bertram is said to be a doubt.

However Turner doesn't seem unduly worried as long as the visit of Sky doesn't affect his young squad.

"I'm not totally unhappy with what I'm putting out at the moment. There is terrific enthusiasm there but the big question for the young players is it's a big game with the presence of the television cameras - they have got to be able to handle everthing that goes with Monday night's game.

"I'll back the youngsters to do that."

Turner was also quoted in the Non-League Paper with similar thoughts.

"With the younger element in the side, they maybe do not have that composure and steel about them to see out the ninety minutes, but on the other hand you get a lot of energy, a lot of effort and at times some very good play.

"So you balance one up against the other and I think we have been doing extremely well because we have been missing a lot of experienced players."

Stevenage Borough will be without Jon Nurse for the game.

"Jon could be out long term," said Westley. "He's been playing with a little niggle for a while now. It's a blow and disappointing for him because he's been in brilliant form."

Stevenage are also expected to be without Luke Oliver (ankle ligament) and Barry Laker (jaw), goalkeeper Shane Gore and former Hereford United player Danny Williams.

Darren Stamp and Michael Warner had knocks at Stevenage's game against Canvey Island last Tuesday. Warner is said to be unlikely to play.

Boro defender, Ronnie Henry, thinks his side are good enough to play in the League and are looking to win every game ahead of them.

"Hereford is a very important game and we need to beat them to stay in a good position," he told the Non-League Paper.

The Hereford midfielder Craig Stanley summed up the importance of the game to the NLP.

"Stevenage is a massive game for us. We need three points from it."
