Watford have embarked on a supporter recruitment drive - and have made Stevenage their first target.
Watford will trial their new "satellite fans" service in Stevenage for the remainder of the season, before extending the service to the remainder of Hertfordshire next season.
Offering adult tickets for as little as £14, with free coach travel for the 50 mile round trip, Watford will target people in and around the Stevenage area with adverts in the local press and radio.
Stevenage could little do with the targeted campaign to prise their fans away. Whilst they have strong off-field income, their gates have declined to a low of 1,403 last Tuesday, despite sitting in the Conference play-off zone, and they have struggled to attract new fans for more than one-off matches.
