Crawley Town have been docked three points and fined £5,000 after becoming the first club to be found guilty of exceeding the squad budgeting rules this season.
A statement from Crawley reads: "The Club exceeded their Annual Player Budget, for the 2005/2006 season, which was directly linked to the problems within the player?s contracts and bonus structure."
The bonus structure at the club is still under review, with several player owed payments going back several months. Last month's wages were also paid late. £2,000 of the fine is suspended for 12 months. According to Conference rules, a second breach next season will result in immediate expulsion from the league.
