Steve Evans took a lengthy swipe at the financial constraints at Boston on the official Boston site today - and revealed he had given the club a six-figure interest free loan in the process.
Evans, never one to shy the spotlight, told the offical site: "Let me give you a little more insight into where I am coming from. When I agreed as a manager to sell David Norris, Lee Beevers, David Noble and Andy Kirk, I did so at each time because those that controlled the finances at Boston United told me it had to happen.
"More importantly, when Boston United was in desperate need of cash, I lent the football club an interest-free sum that runs well into six figures and I did this knowing it would be unlikely that I would ever see a return on that money. I did that simply for my love for Boston United Football Club. Now Julian Joachim has been sold, I have been told that none of that money will be available to re-strengthen the team or even attempt to repay myself in part, so perhaps I do begin to see little light in the tunnel."
"In our opening three league matches, our football has been described by both our supporters and opposition managers as outstanding and I can reassure everyone with Jockey (Julian Joachim- ed) now gone, our plan to play a passionate, passing game will continue for the short, medium and long term.
"Our supporters have recognised this and have taken time to say so. We travel to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday and that was always going to be a difficult test, but I will ensure everyone is up for that task. I believe that we can get a good result to back up what was simply a demolition of an excellent Darlington side last Saturday.
"I can tell you now that the boys will be motivated, but once again, who motivates the motivator?"
