Bulls look to progress in Carling Cup

Hereford United will hope to follow fellow newcomers, Accrington Stanley, to the second round of the Carling Cup with a win over Coventry City this evening.

Last night Stanley deservedly defeated a poor Nottingham Forest side 1-0 to book their place.

Hereford still have doubts over the fitness of captain Tamika Mkandawire who missed last Saturday's game at Barnet. He is said to be recovering from a slight hamstring strain, but may not be risked. Neither first team goalkeeper will play. Wayne Brown is thought to be two weeks away from a full return, however Glyn Thompson may return next week. Scott Tynan will be in goal this evening with youngster Carl Lewis expected to be on the bench.

Graham Turner may take tonight's game as a chance to change his squad slightly. Simon Osborn will be pushing for a start after coming on late in the game at Barnet. He could partner Richard Rose in midfield.

Andy Williams is another player who Turner may well decide to move. Williams hasn't looked happy on the wing recently and may move to a more central position.

For those unable to attend, there will be updates on BBC Hereford and Worcester.
