Hartlepool Given All Clear

Hartlepool have been told they can buy players again after complying with the Football League's salary cap.

Ten days ago Hartlepool chairman Ken Hodcroft announced that they had been in breach of the cap since mid July and were unable to sign new players until they became compliant. The club's owners, IOR (Increased Oil Recovery Ltd!), have restructured funding to the club and resubmitted compliant figures to the Football League.

In other news, Wrexham have lost the services of defender Dennis Lawrence. The Trinidad and Tobago World Cup player has joined Swansea on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee. Next week's Coca Cola Cup opponents Coventry have sold striker Gary McSheffrey to Birmingham for £4million. Rochdale have lost their training goals after thieves nicked the £2,500 goals from the training ground but left the nets - leaving the Police thinking they've been taken for scrap. Bristol Rovers have rejected Nottm Forest's bid for Junior Agogo, though Forest boss Colin Calderwood has not ruled out a bigger offer.

Meanwhile, former Bulls striker Danny Carey-Bertram has felt the wrath of manager Rob Newman after last night's dismissal saw him receive a three match ban. Newman told the Cambridge official site: "I've just told him in the dressing room that he's let everyone in the side down. There's no excuse for it and I'm not going to make any excuses for it. It will be dealt with internally."
