Lincoln City coach John Schofield says he is wary of Hereford United after their win at Stockport last Saturday.
"Hereford have got off to a great start - that was an excellent result for them at Stockport," Schofield told the Lincolmshire Echo.
"Conference sides tend to do well after they are promoted because they are in a winning habit.
"They are also happy at having claimed league status and are full of confidence.
"Conversely, sides that get relegated tend to take a couple of seasons to get into a position to win promotion back from the Conference.
"When you consider the success of Carlisle, Doncaster and Yeovil, we go to Hereford tonight as underdogs.
"If they had been in the league for a season or two, perhaps it might be different.
"But they will be riding on the crest of a wave and will have the crowd right behind them.
"What we have to do is not give them any encouragement. We are going to have to be disciplined at all times."
The statistics record that Hereford have only won four of the last 28 League games between the two clubs.
"I'm not superstitious at all," Schofield continued.
"It may be one of those grounds that has been lucky for the club in the past, but that won't have any bearing on tonight's game.
"Of course we would like the run to continue - but, if it does, it will be because of what we do and will have nothing to do with luck.
"We made an encouraging start on Saturday and, if we can get a result tonight, I'll be delighted."
As reported earlier the Imps have several injury worries and will give late fitness tests to Danny Bacon and Scott Kerr.
"Both lads took nasty knocks on Saturday, but will be given every opportunity to declare their fitness.
"Certainly, from how they have responded to treatment so far, they have every chance of playing against Hereford."
