In a post match interview with BBC Hereford and Worcester, John Trewick commented on the game at Stockport.
"It's a great result. To come away to Stockport in our first league game for many, many years and win 2-0 was very, very satisfying," said the Hereford United coach.
"We've sent the fans home happy and with two home games to come now, it's great.
"But we mustn't get carried away. They had more of the ball than we would have liked, especially from set pieces, and we rode our luck at times."
As regards the injuries to Brown and Beckwith (reported below), Trewick continued:
"It never rains but it pours, doesn't it?
"There's always going to be situations like that through a season, but you wouldn't ordinarily expect it to happen on the opening day, but we've got to take it.
"We will do the necessary on Monday in order to prepare without those two players for Tuesday.
"Hopefully they'll be fit sooner rather than later because they're two important players for us."
Wayne Brown was reported to be on crutches when the team bus arrived back at Edgar Street this evening.
Meanwhile several fans were thrown out of the Hereford end this afternoon including two who over-celebrated the goals by running on the pitch.
