With admission prices at Edgar Street taking up much of Graham Turner's weekly interview, below is a comparison of the cost of watching the forthcoming Carling Cup games.
There are four League Two teams at home in the next round of the Carling Cup. Hereford United, Mansfield, Peterborough and Walsall.
Admission prices vary between the clubs but as an example we have listed the price for a family of two adults and two children sitting.
Hereford (playing Leicester) £54
Mansfield (playing Portsmouth) £46
Peterborough (playing Everton) £54
Walsall (playing Bolton) £36 (bought in advance)
Surprisingly two 'localish' Championship clubs have prices somewhat lower than
those listed above for their Carling Cup games.
Birmingham, who play Wrexham, are charging just £5 for adult season ticket holders and only £1 for concessions. Non season ticket holders pay £10 with £5 for concessions. A family of four (non season ticket holders) will pay £30.
West Bromwich also have low prices. £10 for adults and £5 for concessions for their game against Cheltenham. Again a family of four will pay £30.
It may be that these two Championship clubs have decided to cut their prices for the Carling Cup ties as they feared little interest from their supporters if they charged normal prices. On the other hand, the League Two clubs may have taken a different view in that the quality of the opposition is better than usually seen at their grounds and so there is little need to lower their prices.
