Wright Slams Boo-Boys

Chester boss Mark Wright has slammed the boo-boys who jeered the Chairman's son, captain Stephen Vaughan jnr, after he won the man of the match award against Swindon.

Wright told the Chester Daily Post: "As a player you accept abuse from opposition supporters but when it comes from a section of your own fans, it beggars belief. Stephen was correctly made man of the match and he not only played well against Swindon, but also in our previous game at Torquay.

"Stephen is in the team on merit, I select the side and it is totally my decision who plays. I just wish all our supporters got behind the team in a positive fashion, and not in this negative and unacceptable way. Unfortunately, this sort of thing gets to all the players in the team, and all the players were disgusted by the level of abuse on Friday. We know it is a minority, but quite frankly Chester City doesn't want this type of supporter and their unsavoury vitriol.

"Because he is the chairman's son, Stephen seems to unfortunately attract this type of abuse, from these small minded people, but they should remember without the chairman we wouldn't have a club. We are building a squad that is capable of winning promotion here and we want everybody, whether they be players, staff, or supporters to be unified in the common goal and that is promotion to League One."

Vaughan junior has received constant criticism since he was made club captain at the tender age of 21 and with less than 30 first team starts to his name, with some Chester fans naming him as their worst player ever, and accusing his father of using his position as Chairman to force his son into the side.
