Injuries trouble manager-less Darlington

Darlington are unlikely to appoint a new manager in time for their game at Edgar Street on Saturday. Neil Maddison and Martin Grey are expected to be in charge for their second game whilst the directors look for someone to take permanent charge.

Several injuries will prevent Darlington putting out their strongest side. David Duke, Tano Giallanza and Patrick Collins all unlikely to play on Edgar Street.

"Every other club has injuries," said Grey.

"You can keep making excuses up but you've got to work with what is in front of you and what is in front of us is more than good enough to win games. That is the positive thing, we have got good enough players to win games and that includes this Saturday at Hereford."

Maddison and Grey are trying to bring in players and hope to have someone by Saturday.

"I think the only club I haven't spoken to is Aldershot. I have spoken to everyone up and down the road and everyone is the same. They are trying to cover their own corner first before allowing players to go out. It has been very difficult to find the right player but hopefully we've found the right one for this weekend but it is just trying to finalise the last few things," said Grey.

Hereford United manager, Graham Turner, says that he hasn't got any injuries worries for the game but he's taking Darlington seriously.

"They might well be stung by the defeat to Rochdale but we have got to be ready for a backlash from that," Turner told the Worcester News.

"There is a bit of turmoil at the club in terms of the manager leaving but there is still time for them to appoint one before Saturday.

"Our home form is not that bad. We have lost to high fliers like Wycombe and Lincoln but have ground out results against the likes of Hartlepool."
