The Bulls travel to the National Hockey Stadium for the first time ever on Saturday to face 'Franchise FC' - MK Dons.
What sprang from the ashes of the former Wimbledon FC in 2004 has been widely derided by the general football public. The club had initially been granted a move to Milton Keynes in 2002 but only made the move 15 months later once the 'NHS' had been converted for football use including the replacement of the synthetic hockey surface for a conventional grass pitch.
The stadium, largely open to the elements with temporary stands to lift the capacity to 8,800, has seen two seasons of struggle so far. They only avoided relegation in 2005 thanks to Wrexham's 10 point deduction for entering administration, but succumbed to the drop last season.
So far this season, under the guidance of Martin Allen and with a 22,000 seat stadium set to be ready next season, the club have lived up to their pre-season promotions expectations with a decent fifth placed start. Izale McLeod, with seven goals in eleven games so far, is the jewel in the crown of their current crop of players. Former Bull Matt Baker is still with the club despite being transfer listed in the summer.
The Bulls will be looking for a first away point in five games. The addition of Stoke midfielder John Eustace gave the Bulls extra steel in the centre of the park but the side remains a little goal shy and, while the defence largely picks itself, there is likely to be another shuffle of the midfield for Saturday's game.
MK Dons vs Hereford United, National Hockey Stadium, Saturday October 21st, 3.00pm.
