Torquay are set to become the second League Two club this season to change hands after their Chairman of 17 years announced that he was '48 hours' from completing a deal.
Mike Bateson, who became Chairman in 1989 and is one of the longest serving Chairmen in the League, originally put the club up for sale in 2002 with a £1m price tag. After lengthy discussions nobody took the bait, but Bateson is now confident that a deal can be completed soon: "Nothing is done until it is done, but I am confident we will agree the deal. We are looking at Wednesday but it could be as soon as Tuesday. I have been in talks with several interested parties over the last few months and throughout the negotiations the future well-being of the club has been the only priority.
"It is fair to say that I am some way down the road towards concluding a deal and we will issue a full statement if and when a deal is concluded."
