Boston Director Colin Woodcock has quit the club after the board elected not to remove manager Steve Evans.
Evans was given a suspended jail sentence on Friday and vowed to carry on at the club which is currently one off the bottom of the league. Woodcock, formerly the Company Secretary, told the trial of Evans and four others that Evans was appointed because "he offered so much more than just football".
Woodcock told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "Going back to December's loss in the FA Cup if your name had been Mourinho or Ferguson you'd have been sacked, ut Steve Evans is still at the helm and I don't think I can support that stance any longer, so I have resigned."
Boston are also expected to complete a loan deal to take winger Brad Maylett to Chester for a month. The Football League had initially refused the deal because Chester would have infringed on their wage cap.
Meanwhile, Chester have been charged by the FA in relation to their loss to Barnet last month with the club being charged over their players conduct. Roberto Martinez was dismissed late in that game.
