The Gay Meadow is currently located just a little more than a handful of games from Wembley. It will almost certainly be our last but one visit when the First round FA Cup tie kicks off at noon. The indications are that the visiting areas will be an all-ticket sell-out so a great atmosphere is anticipated.
I don't propose to go into great detail about the route other than to say it's up the '49. However, it is worth noting how to find parking near to the ground. After passing Bayston Hill you will come to a large roundabout (Garden Centre to the left) which go straight over and continue to the Meole Roundabout. Take the third exit sign Reabrook/Shirehall/North. Straight on at the next Island and at the next, take the third exit sign Shirehall (up a steep bank). Turn left towards the Town Centre, through a set of traffic lights, passed the Dun Cow Pub and Netto. There is a very large pay and display Car Park on the left opposite the Abbey (not sure how much) or at the Stadium, there is reserved visitors parking for up to 300 cars (£2).
Those travelling by train are unlikely to get lost as I suspect they will be "escorted" from the station.
REFRESHMENTS :- I have been unable to find any hard and fast rules regarding Pubs. It would seem that it is largely left to the discretion of each Landlord although I suspect most will serve you if asked. Wetherspoons is understood to be open from early on, whereas many others will not open 'til 11.00. I'm told The Crown in Abbey Foregate is worth a visit as is The Nags Head on the way from the train station. West Mercia's finest are certain to be out in strength and my sources suggest that any "out of order" behaviour will result in the offenders missing the game.
Come on You Bulls.
