"Herculean" Effort To Clear Pitch

Shrewsbury Town are confident that tomorrows game will go ahead after a "Herculean" effort to clear water from the pitch.

Virtually all the standing water is now clear and the club are not expecting problems from the high tide later today. The pitch will be very heavy for the game and is likely to cut up badly.

Speaking to the Shropshire Star yesterday, Shrews manager Gary Peters surveyed the suituation: "I got in at 6.30am to push the water off the pitch for the last one and I don't know if there are any other managers in the country who would do that. But then it's just whether it comes back again. It depends what's happening in Wales at the moment and whether the river rises again. Rest assured though, everything we can do will be done."
