Accrington Stanley have been told by Lancashire Council that the total capacity at the Fraser Eagle Stadium can be increased to 5,075 with immediate effect. It had been 4,314.
"It's great news for the club and is reward for a lot of hard work that has gone into the stadium over the last few years. We know we still have work to do and our rapid progression in recent years has meant we have gone from having one of the best stadiums at the level we were playing at to probably having one of the least appealing," said stadium manager Mick Schultz.
"Most of the last twelve months has been spent satisfying the requirements that playing in the Football League bring, but now we have pretty much ticked those boxes we want to concentrate on making the Fraser Eagle Stadium an even more pleasant place to come and watch football."
