A trio of companies have been shortlisted to redevelop the Edgar Street Grid.
Centros Miller, Modus, and Stanhope PLC have been named as the preferred bidders for the site, with proposals to be heard from each company in November.
Centros Miller, with 40 years of development behind them, have completed ten similar 'regeneration' schemes in the last ten years notably in Kidderminster and Boston, where both won several awards. They are currently working on a number of schemes including a million square foot development in Portsmouth.
Modus are responsible for the £120million Grand Arcade in Wigan. They boast a 15 year history in redevelopment, but have nothing that is near the size of the ESG. They were named Developer of the Year at a recent industry awards.
Stanhope PLC are currently redesigning Stevenage and Bracknell over two sites totalling the size of the ESG but have mainly been responsible for the redevelopment of old office blocks mainly in London and the South East.
