Halifax Given Four Weeks

Halifax Town have been given four weeks to resolve their ownership issues and pay off their debt to the taxman.

At today's High Court hearing the judge gave the prospective owners, a group of Yorkshire businessmen, 28 days to seal their takeover and pay off the outstanding six figure debt.

In an unusual move, it was HM Revenue and Customs who asked the court for 56 days to allow the takeover to complete. The judge offered 28, with a spokesman for the consortium acknowledging: "Twenty-eight days would suffice."
