The Football Supporters Federation are holding a Safe Standing Day next Sunday and they are hoping that fans from clubs throughout the country will descend on Adams Park in High Wycombe at lunchtime to attend Wycombe Wanderers' televised home League Two fixture against Brentford.
Wycombe Wanderers - in response to requests from their own fans to publicly back a campaign calling on the Government to permit the introduction of safe standing areas at stadiums in the top two divisions in England and Wales - have declared the fixture a Fans United Safe Standing Day.
The Wanderers' board has invited the 145 MPs who have signed a House of Commons Early Day Motion in favour of a debate on the introduction of safe standing areas in the top tiers, as well as representatives of the other 91 professional football clubs, to attend the match.
Fans have been asked to wear their club colours to the game, which will be shown live on Sky TV. Brentford fans are requested to occupy the normal away fans' area at Adams Park. All other supporters are welcome to sit or stand wherever they wish.
Fans United Safe Standing Day is being backed by both Stand Up Sit Down (www.standupsitdown.co.uk) and the Football Supporters' Federation (www.fsf.org.uk).
At present only one club chairman, from AFC Bournmouth, has agreed to attend in support of the campaign and the FSF is hoping that supporters will contact their club to try and get more chairmen to attend on Sunday.
