Eighty extra Hereford United supporters were counted through the turnstiles this afternoon compared with the last home game, against Rochdale, two weeks ago. Today's fixture was the first of three this season when season ticket holders can bring another person with them free of charge.
Today's attendance was 2725. Of those 170 were supporting Macclesfield which gives a figure for home support of 2555. The gate against Rochdale was 2732. Some 257 were counted through the visitors end leaving a figure of 2475 Hereford supporters.
The average home gate so far - only three League games - is 3008. That's a drop of 790 compared with last season's first three home games. However the equivalent game at Edgar Street last season against Wycombe Wanderers was only watched by 2585, so today's figure is up by 140.
It looks as though the season ticket deal today only had a limited effect on the gate and may have lowered the takings.
