Woking Football Club have launched their own lager called Cardinals Gold, which they hope will follow on the success of their Cardinals Own Bitter.
Woking report that Cardinals Gold 'is an organic lager and made purely from organic produce. No additives or preservatives. The organically grown hops deliver a floral note to the brew and the purity of flavour is protected by meticulous cold filtration. This is a long, powerful brew with a firm body and a luxuriant head.
Each 660ml (bigger than a pint) bottle is 5% vol and on sale from the Club bar for £3.00. The lager also comes in a ‘mini cask’ containing 8 pints. These will be ideal for home BBQ parties with each cask coming fitted with tap for easy pouring.'
"This new initiative is one of many the Commercial Team here at the club will be launching throughout the coming months," said a spokesman for the club.
Last summer a special beer, called Bull's Up, was produced by The Wye Valley Brewery to celebrate Hereford United F.C.'s promotion back into the Football League.
Although the Hereford United bar, Legends, is not run by the club, it could be a useful outlet for 'Hereford United' labelled products with royalties going to the club.
And with so many excellent local brewers and cider-makers in the Hereford district maybe Woking's idea is one worth following.
