After today's encounter against Notts County, Steve Guinan spoke to Bulls News about some of the referee's actions during the match. I asked him firstly about the penalty claim when he appeared to be fouled when through on goal.
"I don't think I've ever been fouled so much in any game I've played in as I was today. The penalty shout was not clear-cut but I've certainly seen them given for a lot less. I let the ball run across my body and was then held as I looked to get a shot off. I would happily have traded one of the many other decisions for a penalty today. It was clear after the first ten minutes that they'd come for a point. Neil McKenzie who is normally quite adventurous in his forward runs hardly moved from in front of his back four and it made it very difficult to break them down."
"I thought Toumani's booking was extremely harsh particularly as it followed just seconds after a clear foul on Simon Johnson had gone completely unpunished. Ben Smith and I both questioned the referee about the decisions and he insisted that their player had got a touch on the ball in Simon's incident when we all thought it was a blatant foul from behind. Toumani definitely got the ball and none of us can understand how he can book one player and not the other. He'll miss the Shrewsbury game because of that."
