The One to Watch - Ben Smith

Former Hereford United manager, Colin Addison, has told the South Wales Echo that Cardiff City had better watch captain Ben Smith.

“One player to watch is Ben Smith.

“He played under me at Yeovil Town, and has become one of the best midfield players in the division.”

Addo went on to praise Graham Turner and his team.

“They’re a very good, well-balanced side with a nice blend of youth and experience and an excellent manager.

“They may have lost 4-0 on Monday night (to Chesterfield), but I’m sure that’s a one-off.

“Promotion is very much in their sights, and that was only their second defeat in 19 games, which speaks for itself."

However Addison knows a little luck for the Bulls tomorrow could make a lot of difference.

“I remember Malcolm Macdonald hit the bar twice for Newcastle against us.

“On another day, the ball would have gone in and that would have been it, but we rode our luck and the rest, as they say, is history.”

So who is going to win?

“You’ve got two in-form teams, and two divisions separating them.

“But the FA Cup is magical – look at what happened to Swansea down at Havant & Waterlooville in the last round.

“The players, the fans and the whole of Hereford are up for it.

“It wouldn’t surprise me at all if United managed a draw – much stranger things have happened.”
