Alan Connell scored Brentford's goal as they increased the pressure on Shrewsbury's Gary Peters. Connell has scored eight this season, six of them since Terry Butcher was sacked. Lionel Ainsworth finally started a game for Watford but didn't last an hour as they beat Ipswich.
Chris Mackenzie was one of six ex-Bulls on the pitch as Torquay met Kidderminster, and he was the busiest as Torquay battered Harriers but only managed a 1-0 win. Andy Ferrell was booked in the game. Scott Tynan will miss a month after undergoing knee surgery.
Phil Gulliver scored a last minute equaliser for Rushden as they drew 2-2 with Halifax, a game in which David Brown made his Rushden debut. Neil Grayson scored only his fourth goal of the season as Stafford got their first home win of the season with a 2-1 win over Weymouth. They move off the foot of the Conference table as a result, but still need to double their points tally to get anywhere near to safety.
Gareth Sheldon lasted only 23 minutes of Tamworth's game with Workington before being sacrificed for a defender with the Lambs already 3-0 down. They lost 5-0. One ex-Bull to fall off the radar recently has been keeper Ben Scott. The former Sheff Utd stopper was released from Edgar Street in 2005 after a solitary first team game, but has now resurfaced at Hednesford after spells at Ilkeston and Lincoln United.
