Macmillian Renton Appeal Reaches Target

The appeal to raise a £1.5 million share of £3.4 million needed to build a cancer unit at Hereford County hospital has been accomplished.

"It is truly amazing. We asked people to raise £1.5 million to build something they would never want to go near themselves, and they did so," said Ron Davies, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support as reported by the Hereford Times.

"We asked the public to raise the money. We were never disappointed or ever let down. No-one ever said no. It has been truly amazing and it is wonderful to have been associated with it..

"There were some big donations but ordinary people raised the majority of the money. I think nearly everyone in Herefordshire and parts of Powys did something to make sure we get a new cancer unit in Hereford."

Bulls News was pleased to support this appeal by running a car park at the Hay-on-Wye festival. With the help of several young Hereford United supporters over £21,000 was raised for this excellent cause.
