Preview: Bulls vs Chester

The Bulls entertain Chester on Saturday looking to retake third place from Darlington.

It's been 11 seasons since Chester won at Edgar Street when in November 1996 a David Norton own goal helped them to a 2-1 win. Since then the Bulls have claimed four wins and a draw including a 2-0 win last season. Earlier this season the sides shared a 1-1 draw at the Deva, with Simon Yeo's opener being cancelled out by Toumani Diagouraga - with neither player scoring since.

The Bulls return to League action after a blank weekend hoping to capitalise on the Quakers' poor form. Their return of just two points from the last four games has given the Bulls two games in hand to retake third place and open a gap on their rivals. Striker Steve Guinan proved his fitness with 90 minutes against Westfields on Tuesday night and will be pushing for a return to the starting XI with two well taken goals.

Chester's downfall this season has been rapid. Since Chairman Stephen Vaughan quit in December the club have won just three games from 22, sliding into a relegation fight at the wrong end of the table. New boss Simon Davies has tightened the ship, with five of their last seven defeats being 1-0 losses and creditable performances against Darlington, MK Dons, and Peterboro. The fans, however, have voted with their feet with just 1,700 home fans turning up for their last home match.

Hereford United vs Chester City, Edgar Street, Saturday April 5th, 3.00pm.
