Fleetwood expected to sign for Charlton

Stuart Fleetwood is expected to sign for Charlton this week. The former Hereford United striker has been linked with several clubs recently but it seems he is destined to become an Addick.

Fleetwood has attracted attention after a very successful season at the Lawn after leaving Edgar Street twelve months ago. He was top scorer in the Conference.

"The deal with Charlton looks done and dusted," said Jimmy Harvey, the Forest Green manager.

Press reports suggest the deal is for about £100,000.

Last weekend Fleetwood won the 'golden boot' award at the annual Football Conference presentations in Blackpool and on top of that the managers in the Conference voted him player of the season.

Meanwhile commentator Jonathan Pearce is the latest to suggest that Graham Turner's Manager of the Year award in League Two was motivated by other things in his Sunday Mirror column:

'I still can't get over the League Managers' Association snub for Paul Ince in their annual awards. Every division-winning boss was named manager of the year except one. Why could that be? Surely not!? Not when football chairmen tell you there's no racism in English boardrooms - and they never lie..'
