News Round Up

Ex-Bull Neil Mackenzie won his second Countdown game yesterday and faces a third opponent on today's show. The reformed Halifax club have named Jim Vince as their new manager. He took Witton to the Unibond play-offs twice in two and a half years there. The Shaymen will get an early wake up to their new predicament after being placed in the preliminary round of the FA Cup, where they will face village side Eccleshill United or Silsden.

It's never dull at Chester, who have signed temperamental striker Ryan Lowe from Crewe on a free transfer and welcomed exiled pair Tony Dinning and Paul Butler back into the fold. The veteran pair sparked a transfer embargo after being shunned during last season but have now apparently signed new deals with the club. Walsall have signed Jabo Ibehre on a one year deal. The former Leyton Orient man scored 40 goals in 240 appearances for Orient over eight years.

Bournemouth's takeover drags on, with the second rival bidder being revealed as the main bidder's financial backers before they parted ways last week. The new bidders are in the process of buying land around the club's Dean Court home that the Cherries sold as they fought money troubles over the past few years. Huddersfield have signed departed Scunthorpe defender Andy Butler on a three year deal.

Stockport's £750,000 sale of Liam Dickinson to Derby will see the club net only half that. 20% of the fee goes to former club Woodley Sports, while 30% go to the club's former owner as part of the deal that saw the club transferred to the Supporters Trust. Ex-Bull Danny Williams has signed a new deal with Northwich, while Scott Tynan has patched up his rift with the club after saying he wanted a move on an internet site.

Colchester have signed former Barnsley captain Paul Reid. The 26 year old defender led the Tykes to League One Play-off glory in 2006 but made only a handful of appearances last season.
