News Round Up

Port Vale have named Dean Glover as their new permanent manager. One local paper, an hour before the announcement, stated on it's website: 'Appointing Glover now would be the biggest PR disaster since Gerald Ratner said that all of his shops sold nothing but crap!' Peterboro boss Darren Ferguson is being linked to the manager's post at QPR with Iain Dowie under pressure.

Ex-Bull Mick Galloway's job as player-boss at Hucknall is under threat after they lost 4-0 to Farsley on Saturday ending the game with just eight players after three were sent off. They have won just one of eleven league matches so far. Millwall defender Dave Brammer is on trial at Wrexham after failing to impress at Crewe.

Grimsby have named Mike Newell as their new manager. The former Luton boss, and his outspoken views on women referees, has been out of work since being sacked by the Hatters 18 months ago for criticising their board. Mansfield have been docked four points by the Conference for fielding an ineligible player in their first two Conference games. The move sees them drop from 7th to 15th. They are still subject to a seperate FA enquiry.
