Foster Takes Management Plunge

Ex-Bull Ian Foster is the latest former Graham Turner signing to go into management.

The former Liverpool trainee has agreed a two year deal as manager of Irish side Galway United. He followed Jeff Kenna from Kidderminster to Galway for Kenna's first managerial post, but has now been promoted from physio to the manager's office after just nine months with the League of Ireland strugglers following Kenna's sudden departure to St Pats. He has also pulled on his boots again occasionally as financial troubles at the club limited their playing staff.

Galway CEO Nick Leeson (yes, that Nick Leeson) announced: "We have a new sponsor on board for the next four years, a new kit deal for the next four years and a manager who is committed to Galway United FC for the next two years. The players know and respect Ian and know that he was more than a key part in last season's recovery and his appointment assures continuity.

"At this stage everyone in the club is looking forward to the start of the new season in March as we continue to build on the progress of the past few seasons."

Now 32, Foster played 36 times for the Bulls over two seasons during 1996-8. He scored only four times and was more notable for his volatility that saw him sent off twice.
