Friend expected to Referee at Crewe on Saturday

Kevin Friend is set to referee Saturday's League One match between Crewe Alexandra and Hereford United.

Friend started refereeing at age thirteen within his home county of Leicestershire. His route to the National List was via the Leicester Senior League and Midland Football Alliance before being promoted to the National list in 2000. After three more seasons he reached the National List of Referees.

Saturday's match will be the first time this season Hereford United have met Friend. Last season he was in charge of the Boxing Day match at Macclesfield which the Bulls won by the only goal of the game scored by Theo Robinson. On that day Dean Beckwith was booked.

To date this season Friend has been in charge of 35 games and has given out 101 yellow and 5 red cards.

Last night Friend was the official who called off the Bristol Rovers home game against Brighton.
