Preview: Crewe vs Bulls

The Bulls travel to Gresty Road on Saturday looking to move within a point of safety.

Being one of the 'C' teams, the Railwaymen have already been beaten this season. The 2-0 win at Edgar Street at the end of August was the first bright point of the season for the Bulls. Both sides will be much changed from that encounter, with neither of the Bulls goalscorers that day, Bradley Hudson-Odoi and Stephen O'Leary, likely to feature while only three of the Crewe side that day are regulars at the moment.

The Railwaymen have had an upturn in fortunes under strict disciplinarian Gudjon Thordasson. The no-nonsense Icelander has dispensed with a string of wayward players, replacing them with a rough and tough outfit that forced a trio of Brighton players to leave the pitch injured last Saturday - with one ending up in intensive care. Tuesday night's defeat at home to Carlisle came on the back of four straight wins at home, but their current lack of attacking options due to injury are causing them problems.

The Bulls will be grateful, if not entirely happy, to have had the enforced rest with the postponement of Tuesday's match. With both Steve Guinan and Andy Williams struggling with knocks the extra few days rest will hopefully bring both back to fitness. Febian Brandy will need to complete forms for another loan spell if he is to be considered, while Sam Hewson will be starting the final month of his spell with the club.

Crewe Alexandra vs Hereford United, Gresty Road, Saturday 7th March, 3.00pm.
