Important Week for Bulls

Hereford United have two home games this week and realistically if they don't take, at the very least, three points from them it will make the task of staying in League One very difficult.

Yesterday's defeat was disappointing because the Bulls failed to cope with Crewe's superior physical strength. Manager Graham Turner admitted as much in his post match interview.

"We saw them a fortnight ago but today they were bigger, stronger today with the personnel they put in the side," said Turner.

It was noticable that the combination of Sam Gwynne and Richard Jackson on the right failed to stem the speed and strength of the Crewe attack but there was little Turner could do about it with a 'weak' bench. Injury and illness had prevented Turner selecting several players who might have helped the cause.

The next game for the Bulls is on Tuesday evening against Bristol Rovers followed by Southend at Edgar Street on Saturday. Yesterday Rovers held Leeds United to a 2-2 draw with Jo Kuffour's last-minute goal.

With the games coming thick and fast Turner may have to rotate the starting eleven slightly for this match. He will be aware that several players are carrying injuries. In any case he will be without Sam Hewson after his red card yesterday and it's not been made clear whether Andy Williams, who is on loan from Rovers, can play.
