Turner warns of delays to ground improvements

Graham Turner has warned that any possible upgrading of the Edgar Street ground is likely to be delayed because of the recession.

"The recession is affecting everything. It's affecting all walks of life," Turner told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"It looks as though the Richardsons have put it on the back burner."

Turner's remarks came in a short interview which was part of H&W's week looking at the ESG in Hereford.

Council Leader Roger Phillips also spoke about Hereford United.

"We always been in close contact with the Richardson Brothers who own the lease," said Phillips.

"The council own the two leases of the football ground and the Richardson Brothers are the lease-holders and they re-let it to the football club.

"And what we are going to do is some land exchange at the bottom to develope first of all the bottom stand, the Merton Meadow end, and we've been in discussion about the other end."
