Benson Turns Down Shrews

Dagenham striker Paul Benson has turned down a six-figure move to Shrewsbury and signed a new deal with the Daggers.

The 29 year old opted against the switch to replace Grant Holt in order to stay in the London area, leaving the Shrews with four strikers at the club who managed just eight goals between them last season.

The Shrews had already lost second top scorer Ben Davies to Notts County, and released third top scorer Richard Walker, but hotshot Holt's departure leaves them desperately short of goalscorers with more than half of last season's League goals departing the side with five goal ex-Brighton rookie Jake Robinson the only forward arrival.
