Parry Wants To Prove Critics Wrong

Paul Parry has told the South Wales Echo that he has no intention of leaving Cardiff before his contract expires next summer.

With the Bulls holding a sell-on clause on the now 29 year old midfielder, Parry enters the last year of his current contract determined to win over the boo-boys that blamed him for last season's dismal end:

"I'm probably my own biggest critic. I know I had a poor season last year going by the standards I set in previous seasons. But one poor season out of four is not too bad when you look at it. This year I aim to prove my critics wrong. People have got their opinions about me. They are entitled to them as they are paying supporters at the end of the day.

"Certain sections of the fans were unhappy with me last season, and they probably had every right to be. But I know myself if I'm playing badly and I will beat myself up about it. I'm going to get my head down because I want to nail down a starting place. My main aim is to have a better season than I did last time and to do that I've got to work harder.

"This will definitely be my biggest season since I came to Cardiff. It's probably my last too, it is the last year of my contract, but I've no intention of moving yet. I want to put things right. Maybe this season will be my season."

Parry also won't be changing his mind about not playing for Wales, a move that gave the boo-boys more fuel for their fire: "That was always going to go down poorly because I was at a Welsh club. If I'd been at a different club it might not have gone down so badly. But it's behind me. It is almost a year since it happened and I feel I'm stronger for it. A bit older and a bit wiser.

"There is no turning back for me with Wales. I'm going to stick to my guns. Hopefully Cardiff will get the benefit of it this season."
