Premiership club Burnley are hoping to have a friendly with cash-striken Accrington Stanley next Tuesday if permission is granted by their league. All the gate receipts will go to Stanley.
As reported earlier Stanley are fighting a threat of closure unless they can convince the taxman to delay payment of the £308,000 they are said to owe.
"We will always help our friends down the road. We have always had good relations with Accrington and we know how difficult it can be for smaller clubs in the respective leagues," said Burnley chairmam Dave Kilby.
"I have sympathy for them, knowing how crowded it is for clubs in East Lancashire. We will do anything we can to help them secure their future."
