Peter Smith is the middle of a dissertation and he would like some help from Hereford United supporters.
Regular viewers of Bulls Banter will notice that I have posted a thread on the forum asking people to give me their views on Hereford United's relationship with its supporters. The reason I ask this is that I am currently writing a dissertation based around how Hereford United can improve its supporters base. I have been studying to top up my HNC to a degree for the last two and a half years on a part time basis. Unfortunately during this time I have had to move away from Hereford which has meant I have had to use more creative ways of collecting my primary research.
I have been a supporter of the Bulls since the early part of the 2000's and believe that an improvement in the clubs relationship with its supporters would have a positive impact on attendances and the clubs turnover. I have carried out extensive reading as part of my research but must also include primary research. While the thread on Bulls Banter has given me an insight into some peoples views it is probably fair to say that the discussion has at times gone off the subject!
Thanks to Bulls News I have been given the opportunity to post my request to hopefully reach a wider audience.
What I am attempting to do is either prove or disprove that an improvement in Hereford United's relationship with its supporters, and in that I mean individuals, local businesses and the local council, police, etc, would have a positive effect on the clubs attendances and turnover, which in turn would allow the club to move on and improve both on and off the pitch.
The four main questions I would like opinions on are:
(1) What do you think of Hereford United's current relationship with its supporters? I am looking for both positive and negative answers about your individual experiences.
(2) Does the club do enough work in the local community to rally people to come and support the team? In this I mean working with local schools to attract the supporters of the future and encouraging local businesses to support the club. Is the HUFC brand visible around the city?
(3) Do the current facilities have an effect on whether people attend games or not?
(4) What, in your opinion, can the club do to attract more people to games on a regular basis?
If anyone can help me with all or any of these questions please Email me at smutos@hotmail.com
To back up my research I will also be carrying out a survey through a questionnaire which I would be very grateful if anyone would be able to spend 10 minutes or so to answer. Again just Email me on the address above and I will send out the questionnaire.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Peter
