Reserve Game Report

This report on this afternoon's reserve game against Cardiff City is adapted from their OS.

Hereford United had five players in their squad who had been involved in last night's home win over Aldershot Town in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

City went near after four minutes when Taiwo found Scimeca, but his shot was saved by Adamson. Almost half an hour passed by before the Bluebirds forced Adamson into another save when Scimeca gave McCormack a chance but his shot was saved by the diving keeper.

Hereford's only first-half chance came eight minutes before the interval when a fierce header by Manset from a Tolley free-kick was brilliantly saved by Enckelman, and a low-key first half ended without a goal with City having dominated possession.

Hereford took the lead three and a half minutes into the second half when Enckelman mis-punched Done's free kick from the left, and Adelsbury looped his header from eight yards into the net.

Hereford nearly scored a second fourteen minutes into the second half when Manset sent substitute Pongo into City's area, but he shot inches wide into the side-netting. City fought back and three minutes later were level. Scimeca sent Meades clear on the left, and his low cross split the Hereford defence for Magennis to score easily.

City took the lead midway through the second half, Meades putting Magennis in possession in the Hereford area, the striker doing well to retain the ball from a defender's challenge and curling his shot into the corner of the net.

City were never really troubled after they had taken the lead.

Hereford United: Adamson, Tolley, Southam, Manset, Constantine, Edwards, Weir, Sonko, Ben Adlesbury, Done, McCallum, McQuilkin, Idriss Pongo.
