Following issues with their landlords, The Millers moved from Millmoor to The Don Valley Stadium after over one hundred years at their former home. Originally built for the World Student Games in 1991, the venue is an athletics stadium with covered, seated accommodation on just one side of the pitch. Even here, the covering does not extend to the full depth of the seats with the oddly designed roof resembling a tented Bedouin encampment. The Stand provides seats for visiting supporters in one end section although to be under the "roof" you will be sat some distance from the pitch, which is surrounded by the athletics track.

The Official Rotherham site is currently advertising tickets at £18 for adults, £10 for concessions (student, disabled and seniors), £6 for ages 12-16 and £5 for 8-11. Under eights are admitted free with a full paying adult. It is not clear if these prices apply to advance purchase tickets only as other sources have prices starting at £20.

By Car, travel via the M5, M42 and A42 to join the M1 (sign North). At junction 32 (M18) take care to continue ahead on the M1. Leave the M1 at J34 and at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the A6178 (sign Sheffield Centre). Continue on the A6178 passing Meadowhall shopping centre following signs for Sheffield centre and at the junction with the A6102, follow the sign for A6109 (sign City Centre) then at the next roundabout follow the sign for Attercliffe. After passing the Don Valley to your left, turn left at the lights into Worksop Road and then left again for the Stadium. There is a matchday car park at Pic Toys on Worksop Road costing £3 otherwise there is street parking around the Stadium. Distance is just under 150 miles and you should allow three hours with Saturday shopping traffic expected around Meadowhall. Postcode is S9 3TL.

HUISA – departs Radford’s at 9.30 am with a fare of £15 (non-members £16). Seats can be booked through the Club office during normal hours (08442 761939).

ALEHOUSES – There is a bar behind the Main Stand with a visitor’s section. Near to the ground, the "Cocked Hat" is home fans only whereas "Faras" does allow entry to visiting fans. In Worksop Road you will find The Britannia, which is fairly ordinary. The area around Attercliffe Road provides a number of assorted "premises" but is generally less than welcoming apart from The Carlton which is a CAMRA listed establishment offering a range of proper beer. Others in the locality are The Greyhound and The Kings Head although neither is particularly well spoken of. For those venturing into Sheffield City centre, I would suggest The Shakespeare on Gibraltar Street. There are several 'Spoons in Sheffield centre with The Waterworks appearing to be the most likely. Finally, The Hillsborough Hotel at 54/58 Langsett Road (S6 2UB) is about four miles from the stadium but is well worth a visit as it houses the Crown Brewery and serves their PA and Bitter, both at £2 along with regular offerings from Ossett, Stannington, Empire, Abbeydale, Bradestones and Great Newsome.

The Don Valley Chippy is on Attercliffe Road turning left from the junction with Worksop Road.

Enjoy.
