Accrington Stanley have paid off around £300,000 to the HM Revenue and Customs and their future has been secured for the time being.
"It's a tremendous relief for myself and the fans," managing director David O'Neill told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's been an absolute nightmare over the last eight weeks. With all the twists and turns along the way there's not a strong enough word for it."
Former shareholder Ilyas Khan has been named the new Chairman, with O'Neill vacating the role but retaining day-to-day control. Khan put up £110,000 to bail the club out this week with former director Peter Marsden, who becomes President of the club.
Stanley were due in court on Wednesday but their appearance will now be a formality, unlike Southend's who appear to be heading for Administration. The consortium that has offered to buy the club reported to the BBC this afternoon that they had not had a response to their offer for the club, with the club later issuing a statement saying their offer was unworkable in the short timespace available and they are pursuing other avenues before tomorrow's appearance.
In other news this evening striker Anthony Elding has joined Kettering Town on loan from Crewe where he appears to be surplus to requirements. Another deemed surplus to requirements at Gresty Road is Leicester midfielder Aman Verma, who has ended his loan spell with the club two weeks early.
