With the FA Cup game against Sutton on Saturday, Hereford United's Gavin McCallum has spoken about his move to Edgar Street after featuring for Sutton last season.
"When I saw Sutton come out of the hat I thought this is a small world," McCallum told the Kingstone Guardian.
"It is a massive game for both teams. If we can get a win it could kick start our season and get on a decent run.
“I put all my effort in on the training ground every week to try and get in the team, so this week will be no different.
“It will mean a lot to play against my old club. I thought I did well at Sutton. It was a stepping stone for me. It got me my chance and I’m grateful for that.
“People must have been keeping an eye on me because I got back into League football on the back of what I achieved at Sutton.
“I should have scored against Notts County when I played for Sutton last season and I’ll be out to rectify that this time if I get the chance.
“Once I’m out on the pitch I will be out to score. If it means Sutton get knocked out that is just football.”
As yet McCallum has only featured twice for the Bulls in league matches.
“The gaffer obviously likes what I can do, but he has told me to be patient and I’ll get my chance. I’ve been really patient, but I’m still waiting.
“I didn’t think I’d get on against Rotherham, but I got eight minutes and luckily I scored.
“There was a scramble in the box and I just put my foot through the ball and put in the top corner. I was obviously pretty happy. It wasn’t a bad strike for my first league goal.
“It meant something as well. It was an equaliser against a team that could have gone third in the table if they had won.
“I’ve played a total of 26 minutes as a substitute and have scored one goal, which isn’t a bad ratio really.”
