Southend have been given until Monday to pay their tax debt after today's court hearing.
The club assured the court they had the money to clear their full £2.1million outstanding tax bill, far in excess of the £690,000 the original demand was for, and will complete payment on Friday.
Michael Green, solicitor for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs told the press: "Literally five minutes before this morning's hearing we have received an offer of payment in full from the company."
