Lincoln will not be playing pretty football on Friday night as they look to fight it out at Edgar Street.
Rookie boss Chris Sutton is under no illusion that his side isn't good enough and they will have to earn points any way they can before the January window allows him to make wholesale changes to his personnel, telling the BBC:
"We can only play five loan players so we'll see who we can get in January. As much as I'd like to play pretty football, to be honest I don't think we're capable of it at the moment. It's going to be tough. We have to be resilient, effective and gritty and try to create chances another way.
"We're not looking any further than the end of the season. We can only really sort things out in the summer. At the moment we're just looking to get players in to improve our position and make sure we stay up. We can't afford to look too far forward."
While a striker is a priority for his shot-shy side, Sutton will also likely be on the lookout for a goalkeeper with regular Rob Burch expected to depart for a six figure fee in the January window. Former Celtic stopper Scott Fox has been on trial with Burch set to reject a new deal and seek his fortune higher up the League with a trio of Premier League clubs watching the 26 year old.
Meanwhile defender Cian Hughton, son of Newcastle boss Chris, admits they will take any win as they look to escape the wrong end of the table: "We know we are in a relegation battle at the moment but I think, come the end of the season, we will be well out of it. We are not far away from turning the corner and I think we are maybe one result away. We need a bit of luck and perhaps an undeserved win and we will move on from there."
