The Bulls entertain Lincoln City in an unusual dose of Friday night football at Edgar Street.
Honours have been even between the two sides since the Bulls returned to the League, with two wins apiece. In the last meeting at Edgar Street, in December 2007, Theo Robinson, Trent McClenahan, and Ben Smith scored the goals to give the Bulls a 3-1 win. Overall the Bulls have beaten the Imps just six times in 32 League meetings.
The Bulls face their final game before Christmas in need of an early present to lift the spirits of players and fans alike. After conceding nine goals in the last three games the defence is looking as shaky as at any time in the last ten years, and the hope that Ryan Green will come back in to marshall an otherwise inexperienced back line. Leon Constantine's goal last night equals Marc Pugh's best tally of six for the season, but the front line needs to find better consistency with Pugh now goalless in eleven games.
Lincoln's season has gone from bad to worse. Peter Jackson's reign was ended in early September after a slow start, and times have not got any better since. It took a month to appoint Chris Sutton, but the former Premier League striker hasn't inspired his side in front of goal. They've managed just six goals in 12 League games since, only scoring more than once in a game against non-league opposition in the FA Cup. Top scorer Rene Howe, with five goals, is currently struggling with injury and has returned to Peterboro and the Lincoln fans are calling the game a relegation six-pointer.
