No side has dropped out of League Two with 50 points or more since the second relegation place was introduced.
Last season Grimsby would have been relegated with 41 points if Luton had not received their massive penalty. Before that Mansfield dropped with 42, while in 2006/7 Boston had 46 points until they got a ten point deduction for entering Administration during their final game. In 2005/6 Oxford went down with 49 points, the highest figure of any of the clubs to get relegated in the second spot.
The Bulls are currently ten points clear of the bottom two, with Tuesday's game a game in hand over Grimsby. If they can beat Morecambe, the gap would increase to 13 with ten games to play.
In their last ten matches the Mariners have secured nine points, and their next opponents are top two pair Rochdale and Bournemouth. They then host in-form Northampton and face Accrington before coming to Edgar Street in what could be a real relegation six-pointer on April 10th.
