Preview: Bulls vs Morecambe

The Bulls entertain Morecambe on Tuesday night in a rearranged League Two match.

The pair were due to meet two months ago but the game was called off the day before due to the ice and snow. The pair previously met in sunshine at Christie Park on the opening day, when the Bulls salvaged a 2-2 draw from a poor performance that gave early warnings of the struggle to come. The last time the Shrimps came to Edgar Street they walked off with a 3-0 win, in December 2007, as revenge for the 3-0 win the Bulls grabbed in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

The Bulls have Graham Turner in charge for a home match for the first time in 11 months. That game, against Colchester, became the Bulls sixth straight home loss and rubber stamped relegation. Now the Bulls sit ten points clear of the drop zone with a whole new squad for Turner to get to grips with. With Darlington apparently all but relegated, the second relegation spot appeared to be a straight fight between Grimsby and Cheltenham but the Robins' 6-5 win over Burton showed a will to win in the camp and the Bulls are one of a number of teams getting nervous.

Morecambe's season looked to be going the same way as the Bulls until a storming run of form catapulted them into play-off reckoning. In recent weeks they have fallen off the pace and are one of half a dozen sides hoping a late run can bring them back into the hunt. Their away form is one of the poorer for a top half side, with their three wins being more akin to a bottom six finish than top six. With the recent depatures of long serving pair Michael Twiss and Danny Adams, both rejoining ex-boss Jimmy Harvey at Stalybridge, the Shrimps do appear to have one eye on rebuilding for next season. One player they may like to secure is on-loan striker Phil Jevons, whose 16 goal haul is ably backed up by veteran Paul Mullin's nine.

Hereford United vs Morecambe, Edgar Street, Tuesday 16th March, 7.45pm.
