News Round Up

Accrington have signed Everton defender James McCarten on loan for a month after their transfer embargo was lifted. The 20 year old has been a regular in Everton's reserves. Rotherham have signed Exeter striker Craig McAllister on a months loan. The 29 year old spent December on loan at Barnet, but has not scored a senior goal in over a year.

Aldershot have signed defender Aaron Brown and goalkeeper Jamie Young. Brown comes from Truro after previous League time with Yeovil while Young earned England u20 honours before a knee injury hampered his career at Wycombe. Weymouth manager Jerry Gill has quit the club after further budget cuts at the struggling side. He lasted just 44 days.

Notts County midfielder Johnny Jackson has returned to the club from his loan at Charlton after tearing a hamstring. He will not play for at least six weeks, ruling him out of most of the rest of the season. Barnet have signed Peterboro striker Ben Wright on loan for a month after veteran Paul Furlong was ruled out for another two weeks with injury.

Southend chairman Ron Martin, in another lengthy rant on the club's website, tells fans: 'At the moment, to compete in League One it [the club] needs to invest more than it attracts in income.' Goalkeeper Ian Joyce has left the club to return to US football. He also notes that it was Sainsburys that paid off their last court debt of £2.15million as a part-payment on their joint venture that will see the club get a new stadium and the supermarket giant get a new store.

Cheltenham boss Mark Yates is to spend the money available to him on another striker, telling trialist midfielder Kristian O'Leary he may sign him in the summer but he needs to strengthen the front line this term.
